The National Appropriate Adult Network (NAAN) is the national
membership (umbrella) body for organisations running appropriate
adult services. NAAN is a registered charity and a Company
limited by guarantee. It is governed by a Board of
Directors/Trustees. It currently has three members of staff: a
Chief Executive, a Development Officer and a National
Administrator. NAAN is funded by the Home Office, the Department of
Health, membership subscriptions and the sale of
services.
NAAN provides a range of services including
information, advice, events, training and national standards to
support its aims and objectives:

• To promote and protect the rights and interests of young people
and vulnerable adults in police custody
• To support the development and maintenance of effective
Appropriate Adult services throughout England and
Wales.

Plan that was agreed by the NAAN Board
in March 2010.
